Every bead is a work of art.
The art is achieved by each bead being made individually. The artisan uses recycled paper obtained from literally anything made of paper. The beads are made from scraps of colorful calendars, magazine pages, used office paper, flyers and even food boxes.
The paper is cut into long triangles and rolled from the big end to the little end, making an artful bead. All the way the artisan glues the paper in place to form a ball, a bead.
The beads are all shiny and bright, after a coating of varnish which is earth friendly. When the strands are put together, the artisans space the paper jewelry with tiny glass beads.
Hundreds of women in Uganda have taught each other how to make the paper jewelry and each Lady puts her own touches on her own jewelry.
